BESAP III, the third iteration of ASBrS' Breast Education and Self-Assessment Program, is a web-based CME learning tool for physicians who treat breast disease. BESAP III is designed to help surgeons obtain the self-assessment credits necessary to fulfill the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification Program.
The program helps participating physicians ensure a mastery of critical content for the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. The program also provides a significant fund of knowledge for breast fellowship programs.
BESAP III features over 375 multiple-choice questions, all of which include critiques with evidence-based explanations for the answers and supporting references from current literature. 16 major content areas related to breast surgery are included:
- Risk Assessment and Genetics
- Basic Breast Imaging
- Advanced Breast Imaging
- Benign Disease
- Surgery 1
- Surgery 2
- Oncoplastic Breast Surgery
- Medical Oncology
- Radiation Oncology
- Ethics and Professionalism
- Core Measures
- Palliative Care
- Anesthesia and Pain Management
- Clinical Trials
BESAP III's optional Learning Mode allows you to view correct answers, rationales, and references.
To successfully complete the BESAP III program, you must pass each chapter in Exam Mode. In Exam Mode, you will not be able to view correct answers, rationales, or references. Upon passing each chapter's exam with a minimum score of 80%, you will earn 65 CME credits that count towards the self-assessment requirement of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification Program. If a chapter's score is less than 80%, you will be asked to review the incorrect questions and answer those questions until 80% is achieved.
BESAP III will expire on September 14, 2023. Users must complete BESAP III and download CME certificates before the program expires. The program will not be accessible after 3:00 am et on September 15, 2023.
